Multi-Modality Treatment (MMT):

Picture

Multi-Modality Treatment (MMT)

Facilitates the integration of multiple forms of therapy into a holistic approach to treatment that is fully integrated and coordinated:
  • Across Treatment Integration: Individual, family, and group treatments are woven together in a synergistic manner using common language/techniques.
  • Across Team Integration: Our clinicians facilitate the movement of clinical information between treaters to maximize the team's clinical impact while simultaneously minimizing the patient/family's  sense of feeling overwhelmed by the treatment process.
  • Across System Integration: All of the therapeutic interventions are coordinated with our treatment partners, whether they are school systems, PCP's, outside agencies, and/or psychiatrists.
  • Holistic Learning: Our clinicians utilize a holistic view of treatment and learning that encompasses a full appreciation of the patient's mind/body integration,  intellectual potential, current level of achievement, and executive functioning skill development within all of their interventions.
  • Developmentally Appropriate: Our staff customize treatment to address every patient's developmental level as well as their current stage of progress/change over time.

Treatment Resistant Patients:
We are successful in helping patients who have previously been deemed to be "treatment resistant."

We have found that our patients are not resisting treatment, they have simply not been provided with effective treatment that is customized to their specific needs-Problem Solved!

MMT EMPHASIZES:
Learning
  • Executive function-based learning model that is sensitive to the unique learning needs of individual/groups/systems
  • Developmentally sensitive in its understanding of learning throughout the lifespan
Holism/Systems-Awareness
  • It is holistic in seeing the individual as part of a larger system
  • It understands the balance between thinking and being
  • It appreciates the dialectical interaction between all participants and systems (individuals, families, groups, teams, agencies, and communities)
  • It accepts that the suffering within the world is always balanced out by our true ability to experience deep and pervasive joy
Metacognition
  • Builds the metacognitive awareness of each participant individually and as a member of various collective groups
  • Helps teams come together with a sense of shared goals and appropriate expectations.
Empirical Change
  • Evidence-based treatment models are used to promote behavioral change.
  • DBT, CBT, ACT, MI, and Change Theory have all been integrated into holistic MMT Programs
Language Development
  • Change is evaluated though the development of new, more adaptive oral and written language outputs
  • Shared perspectives of treatment are articulated by all participants of a team over the course of a given course of treatment
  • Clinicians are always trying to help patients develop clearer ways of communicating their needs, insights, and knowledge to the people in their lives as they adapt in increasingly healthier ways
Goal-Development
  • MMT’s perspective of learning/pedagogy begins with the MMT Clinician taking an active, central role on the team. In this role, the MMT Clinician advocates for the identification of common learning goals and shared treatment outcomes.
  •  MMT ends with all the individuals and groups agreeing that the collaborative goals have been achieved
Urgency
  • MMT maintains a sense of urgency in accomplishing its primary goal of healthier expression by coordinating the team and utilizing evidence-based interventions to promote the process of change.
  • MMT staff also evaluate the maximum rate at which a given patient can move forward with their treatment, promoting goals that maintain a sense of clinical urgency while simultaneously preventing a patient from becoming overwhelmed.
Diversity AwareNess
  • MMT Clinicians are always respectful, fair-minded, diversity-aware, culturally sensitive, and mindful of the individuals and groups with whom and for whom they collaborate.
  • MMT Clinicians also accept the reality that change can at times promote a sense of struggle, fear, and anxiety between different groups of individuals. MMT strives to minimize this friction and promote a sense of awareness that will maximize healthy communication and encourage cooperation.

MMT's PHILOSOPHY:

“MMT Clinicians help bridge the traditions of Western thinking and Eastern mindfulness by developing common language that seeks to build purposeful connection and a shared sense of clinical momentum within an entire team.”
