Carolina Paiz Martinez, PsyD
Post-Doctoral Fellow in Psychology

Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student at William James College

Dr. Carolina Paiz Martinez is a Postdoctoral Fellow who provides evidence-based assessment and psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She earned her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from William James College, where she developed specialized training in psychological assessment, neuropsychological evaluation, and the treatment of anxiety and related disorders.

Training Background
Throughout her doctoral training, Dr. Paiz Martinez has worked across a range of clinical settings, gaining experience with individuals presenting with anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma-related concerns, mood disorders, and complex emotional and behavioral challenges. She is particularly passionate about helping clients and families better understand the factors contributing to their difficulties while building practical skills that support long-term growth and resilience.

Dr. Paiz Martinez completed advanced clinical training at McLean Hospital’s Southeast Adolescent Residential Treatment (ART) Program, where she worked within a multidisciplinary Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) treatment team serving adolescents with significant mental health needs. This experience strengthened her appreciation for collaborative, family-centered care and deepened her understanding of the developmental, environmental, and psychological factors that contribute to emotional distress.

Clinical Experience
During her doctoral internship at the Brenner Center, Dr. Paiz Martinez provided comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological evaluations for children and adolescents. She worked closely with families, schools, and healthcare providers to translate assessment findings into meaningful recommendations, emphasizing clear communication, psychoeducation, and practical interventions that support positive outcomes at home, in school, and within the community.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Paiz Martinez has a strong interest in increasing access to culturally responsive mental health care. Her doctoral research focused on developing psychoeducational resources for Spanish-speaking caregivers of children with OCD, reflecting her commitment to reducing barriers to treatment and improving mental health literacy within diverse communities.

Dr. Paiz Martinez believes that effective treatment begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on collaboration, empathy, and respect. She strives to create a supportive environment in which clients and families feel understood, empowered, and equipped to make meaningful changes in their lives.
