Leslie Kornbluth, LICSW
Staff MMT Clinical Social Worker

Leslie Kornbluth is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who graduated from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work, where she received her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. Leslie attended Connecticut College as an undergraduate where she received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology-based Human Relations with a minor in French, graduating Magna cum Laude.

Training Background
Leslie’s work within school systems, residential treatment facilities, and community care centers has provided her with a breadth of experience treating a range of diverse clinical populations.

For the last 10 years, Leslie was a senior clinician, program director, and supervisor at an intensive residential treatment program, serving as a Senior Director of Treatment Services and Director of Clinical Case Management. Her leadership responsibilities included managing all aspects of the group home and residential programs. She helped support the psychiatric hospital diversion treatment programs by teaching junior clinical staff members and residential staff members how to assess, manage, and treat high acuity cases. As the Director of Admissions, Leslie worked firsthand with incoming referrals, carefully reviewing their cases and placing them with appropriate clinicians based on their clinical presentations and the current status of peer and staff dynamics in the program.

Leslie also worked within the Newton Public School System at Bowen Elementary School, where she treated K-5th grade students as a school social worker. While at Bowen, she provided individual and group counseling to students struggling with social and emotional issues, focusing on the improvement of social skills, mood regulation, and classroom functioning.

Leslie has an extensive background in working with at-risk children within community mental health settings and well-respected community agencies. She worked with children and adolescents at The Guidance Center at Riverside Community Care, Cardinal McCloskey Services, and the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services. During her time at these agencies, Leslie provided in-home and community-based individual and family therapy with the goal of improving overall functioning, enhancing their natural supports, and preventing out of home placements to her patients with serious emotional disturbances. She addressed her patients’ clinical needs, including trauma, issues of loss and separation, coping and anger management skills, and building self-esteem on multiple teams.

Leslie’s team-based approach to treatment has included close collaboration with outpatient therapists, schools, PCPs, and DCF staff members. Her work has embodied the holistic approach that all CCS staff members employ in our work with a range of patients that we treat on a regular basis.

Clinical Experience
Leslie’s clinical background has provided her with a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with children and adolescent populations who struggle with social skills, trauma & PTSD, developmental disabilities, adoption/foster care/DCF issues, grief, loss, separation, anger management, and a range of externalizing behaviors. Her ability to address the range of individual, familial and learning concerns that surface with these populations has made her a valuable team member. She excels in her ability to collaborate with co-treaters and holistically integrate treatment experiences by utilizing CCS’s Multi-Modality Treatment (MMT) approach in all her clinical interactions.
