Practicum Intern

Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student at William James College

Sofia Greenfield, MA, is a fourth-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at William James College. She provides psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, and adults using a warm, collaborative, and developmentally informed approach to treatment.

Training Background
Sofia’s previous training includes providing outpatient therapy services at GENNEW, where she worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, adjustment difficulties, and life stressors. She values creating a supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to build insight, coping skills, and emotional resilience. Sofia provides both in-person and telehealth services and approaches treatment with flexibility and sensitivity to each client’s unique goals and experiences.
Her clinical background includes experience working with both youth and adults in outpatient and school-based settings. During her training in an alternative middle school program, Sofia provided individual therapy and co-facilitated social skills groups for adolescents with emotional and social challenges, with a focus on social-emotional learning, relationship-building, and supporting Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. She has experience collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school systems to support students’ emotional and academic functioning.

Clinical Experience

Sofia also has specialized experience working with neurodiverse children through her work at Soar Autism Center, where she served as a Lead Registered Behavior Technician providing play-based intervention for young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In this role, she collaborated with speech and occupational therapists and implemented individualized treatment plans using the Early Start Denver Model.
In addition to psychotherapy, Sofia has received training in pediatric neuropsychological assessment through Newton Neuropsychology Group. Her experience includes conducting intakes, administering and interpreting cognitive and academic assessments, providing feedback sessions, and participating in clinical case consultation and didactics focused on child and adolescent neuropsychology.
Sofia’s therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), social-emotional learning strategies, strengths-based interventions, and developmentally appropriate behavioral supports. Her professional interests include child and adolescent mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma-informed care, psychological assessment, and helping clients strengthen emotional insight and coping skills across developmental stages.
Outside of clinical work, Sofia values community involvement and has participated in volunteer work supporting hospitals, food access programs, and outdoor education initiatives for children and families.
