Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student at William James College

Stiven Topalli, MA, is a fourth-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at William James College with concentrations in Neuropsychology and Global Mental Health. He provides integrative psychotherapy and psychological assessment services with a strong emphasis on culturally responsive, developmentally informed care.

Training Background

Stiven’s previous training includes providing outpatient psychotherapy services at Prime Behavioral Health, where he worked with adolescents, adults, older adults, and families navigating a broad range of emotional, relational, and neurodevelopmental concerns. His work included supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, life transitions, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), interpersonal difficulties, and emotional regulation challenges. He approaches treatment collaboratively and tailors interventions to each client’s unique strengths, goals, and lived experiences.
Stiven’s therapeutic style is warm, thoughtful, and integrative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions, motivational interviewing, and family systems approaches. Stiven emphasizes creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
In addition to psychotherapy, Stiven has completed advanced training in pediatric neuropsychological assessment through the Neuropsychological Assessment Center, where he conducted comprehensive evaluations for ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, learning differences, executive functioning concerns, and related developmental presentations. He has experience working with neurodiverse children and adolescents, including minimally verbal and AAC-using youth, and values creating affirming, individualized assessment experiences that support accurate understanding and practical recommendations.

Clinical Experience
Prior to his doctoral training, Stiven worked within emergency and community behavioral health systems at Cambridge Health Alliance, supporting individuals experiencing acute psychiatric distress and coordinating care across multidisciplinary teams. He also contributed to clinical and research initiatives through the Harvard Medical School Center for Mindfulness and Compassion, with work focused on mindfulness-based interventions, trauma-informed care, chronic pain, and substance use treatment.
Stiven’s professional interests include neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma, immigrant and refugee mental health, psychological assessment, mindfulness-based care, and improving access to culturally responsive behavioral health services. He is fluent in English and Albanian.
Outside of clinical work, Stiven is actively involved in advocacy, teaching, and research related to mental health equity, neurodiversity, and underserved communities.
