Akshita Pokharna is a current third-year Clinical Psychology PsyD student at William James College with a master’s degree in Professional Psychology. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, at Loyola University Chicago. Her academic training has given Akshita experience in working with children, adolescents and young adults who have experienced a wide range of psychiatric presentations and co-morbid mental health issues including intellectual challenges, developmental delays, learning disabilities, mood disorders, trauma and more.

Akshita has worked in a wide range of clinical placements. During her placement at Marblehead Highschool, Akshita worked individually with high school students who presented with a range of diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, General, Social Anxiety, and Developmental delays due to health conditions and medications. She also led an online socio-emotional learning group with high school students which focused on teaching anxiety management and emotion regulation skills, as well as, self-care and coping strategies.

During her placements at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health sciences, 
Akshita provided individual therapy in English, Hindi and Gujrati. She also participated in case presentations, clinical team meetings, group training seminars, crisis interventions, and completed clinical case notes, intakes and referrals to outside providers. At this site Akshita worked with students who presented with a variety of psychiatric presentations including Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Personality Disorders, Trauma and Grief. She also worked with a wide range of students across different backgrounds in race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender identities, nationalities and sexual orientations.
