Staff MMT Clinician

Sam Nesin-Perna, MA, is a current Clinical Psychology PsyD student at Rivier University. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Art (BA) in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Continuing his academic journey at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, he earned a Master of Science (MS) in Autism Studies, graduating Magna Cum Laude. While there, Sam conducted a master’s thesis on the interaction of mental health and executive function among neurodiverse university students, earning him a Research Excellence Award.

Training Background
During his time at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Sam served as a Lab Supervisor, overseeing undergraduate student mentors, and contributing to various research projects. Additionally, Sam actively contributed to a nationwide RO1 collaborative study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, focusing on joint attention interventions for toddlers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). These research experiences have helped enhance his ability to better understand and treat neurodiverse populations.

Clinical Experience
Sam specializes in supporting populations with complex learning, executive function, social skills, and mental health profiles. His clinical journey is marked by a diverse range of experiences across various settings and populations. During his tenure at City Year-Boston, Sam served as an AmeriCorps Volunteer, where he engaged in both tutoring and supporting students in an after-school program. He provided academic assistance during tutoring sessions and contributed to the organization's outreach efforts through his involvement in the after-school program. Following this, he worked as a Residential Counselor at Walker Therapeutic and Educational Programs, providing compassionate support to at-risk children with autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities with emotional challenges. Currently, as a Psychology Intern at Copernican Clinical Services, Sam offers comprehensive services to children, adolescents, and young adults, including neuropsychological evaluations, clinical tutoring, and individual and group therapy, with a focus on serving neurodiverse populations.
