Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student at William James College

Erica Ruchlicki is a third-year Clinical Psychology PsyD student at William James College with a Master’s Degree in Professional Psychology. She previously attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh where she received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology. 

Training Background: 
​Erica’s training background encompasses working with diverse populations across various life stages. From supporting adolescents navigating the complexities of middle school to empowering older adults in a community setting, she has cultivated a deep understanding of human development and the nuances of mental health across the lifespan. Throughout her training, Erica has utilized a range of therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also conducting comprehensive psychological assessments. Erica prioritizes creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where her clients can explore their challenges, discover strengths, and work toward meaningful change. 

Clinical Experience: 
Through Erica’s broad clinical experience, she has honed her skills in managing complex client presentations. Erica seamlessly integrates empathy and insight into her clinical work, as well as evidence-based practices to ensure each client receives comprehensive and tailored support.

Erica worked as a clinical intern at 2Life Communities for one year. She worked with older adults aged 65 and older, providing individual therapy to residents as well as running an expressive art therapy group for those with memory loss. 

Erica worked as a clinical intern at Wayland Middle School providing counseling services to seventh-grade students contenting with various clinical presentations including mood disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders. Erica also conducted psychological evaluations for students in all three grades (6th, 7th, and 8th) to determine their eligibility for 504 accommodations and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Erica attended IEP meetings for her students, relaying testing results to the team as well as advocating for the student’s individual needs.
