Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student (Psy.D)
William James College

Meghan Silvia, M.A. is a fourth year clinical psychology doctoral student (Psy.D) at William James College.  At Copernican Clinical Services, Meghan offers individual and family therapy, clinical tutoring, testing,  and co-facilitates elementary to college age group therapy.

Meghan received her Clinical Psychology Masters of Arts (MA) degree from William James College and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology as well as in Crime and Justice Studies from The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Her clinical training has given Meghan experience in working with acutely presenting psychiatric patients in partial hospital and intensive outpatient hospital settings, where she conducted intakes, treatment implementation, group therapy, and discharge planning. She has also worked with elementary school children with a wide array of learning and mental health issues.

Meghan's interest in criminal justice has also provided her with a wide range of exposure to the US immigration process and the impact of violence, familial/community trauma, mental health concerns, and other long-term impacts on a diverse range of US immigrants as they have transitioned to becoming US citizens both before, during and after their immigration process.

Meghan has worked in a wide range of clinical placements including:

Arbour Counseling Services
  • In this placement Meghan worked with adolescent and adult patients in a partial hospital program and intensive outpatient program, both prior to and during the onset of the health crisis.
Falmouth Public School Department
  • In this placement, she provided individual therapy services to elementary aged school children in a public school setting. A major emphasis of this program was on providing children with ADHD opportunities to move throughout the course of the school day. Meghan ran a number of movement groups for this population.

Meghan aims to meet her patients where they are most comfortable, utilizing a Rogerian,  humanistic, validating approach to treatment.   Meghan enjoys working with clients of all ages. She values coordinating closely with her client's families, schools, and co-treaters.
